Kids Christmas Cookie Party

There's no doubt that kids love Christmas. Another thing they love is cookies! Try combining the two for a fun and delicious holiday party theme that children of all ages will love. Here are some tips to make your Christmas Cookie Party a sweet success:

Some things you will need:

Store bought or pre made sugar cookie dough

Icing in all different colors: white, green, red, blue, yellow, pink, brown (for reindeer!)

Sprinkles in all different colors and sizes

Red hot candies, M & Ms, candy canes and other sweet garnishes

Saran wrap or bakery boxes

A favorite Christmas movie

Let the children decorate the cookies either before or after they come out of the oven. If you choose to decorate the cookies after they're baked, let them cool thoroughly. Set up stations where children can go from place to place using the icing, sprinkles, candies, etc. Keep lots of paper towels and baby wipes on hand to clean messy fingers and faces.

While the cookies are baking and cooling, put on the movie for the kids. Some good choices are the classic claymation Christmas movies like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. Or, provide the kids with several choices and take a vote.

For decorations, use cookie shaped ornaments or real cookies and strands of popcorn hung on a medium sized artificial tree. Hang real cellophane wrapped candy canes on the tree and let kids pick one for themselves to enjoy while watching the movie.

Send each child home with the cookies they decorated in cellophane or a bakery box. Or, let the children trade with each other so they'll get to try each other's cookies. If you want to do some more Christmas themed activities at your cookie party, try Christmas caroling or a game of Pin the Nose on Rudolph.

With a cookie theme Christmas party, kids get to have fun celebrating the season and get something sweet to take home with them. Your cookie decorating parties will become so popular that the kids will want you to host them every year!
